the over use of the exclamation mark

I am all for happy cheery notes, 'Have a good day!' - 'Great Job!' - 'Well Done!', all appropriate times for exclamation mark usage. But they should be kept to a minimum, if used at all, in business correspondence, don't you think? Under what circumstance would a professional adult need to express such exuberance as to use several in a 2 paragraph letter? (we're talking like 7)

It feels like forced merriment. Jesus, lay off. I get it, you're very excited about your accomplishment/resume padding statement/work achievement 'I arrived at my previous position 15 minutes early every work day and accordingly received the Office Attendance Award for three consecutive years!' Honestly, I'm not making this up, I recently came across this very thing. I half expected the i's to have little love hearts hovering over them too. It's like the people who type status updates in all caps. Stop yelling at me. Stop trying to make your mundane everyday statement more exciting! (that exclamation mark is totally called for) Oh, and using semi colons with a parenthesis as smiley faces doesn't make what you've said funny either, just thought you should know that as well.
